One of the defining events in Nigeria in 2022 was the importation and distribution of “adulterated fuel. This caused severe economic and social distress in the country. More than 136 vehicular engines were damaged, huge sums of money went into the importation, storage, distribution to service stations, evacuation from the service stations and the logistics back to the supplier refinery. The attendant fuel scarcity with long hours in queue were all the stresses associated with the import.
If the adulteration had been detected by the various laboratories that carried out tests on the cargo before arrival or discharge and advised accordingly, Nigeria would have been free from the national disaster.
One competence is to know how to carry out the test another important competence is to know the significance of the test parameters in petroleum product usage. The methanol that caused the adulteration may have been detected but ignored without knowing the impact of that to the unconditioned engine.
To stop recurrence, Jankech Quality Services has organized a very impactful training on SIGNIFICANCE OF TEST PARAMETERS on PETROLEUM PRODUCTS for both the Chemists and the supply teams.
